Spanish giants Valencia have confirmed they want to sign Chelsea defender Asier Del Horno, British media reported on Thursday. "Del Horno is a very interesting player and our technical team has been following him," Club president Juan Soler told Las Provincias newspaper. The 25-year-old Spain international joined Chelsea last summer but failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge. Since joining Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao last summer, Del Horno has made 25 league appearances for the Premiership champions but has struggled to gain prominence in the left-back position for the Blues. If they do consider a move for the Del Horno, who is still recovering from an injury that ruled him out of Spain's World Cup campaign, Chelsea would be looking to recoup a large chunk of the £8 million fee they paid to acquire his services. Valencia have been in the market for a new left-back after Brazilian Fabio Aurelio joined the ranks for Liverpool.
