Ghana grabbed a stunning 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic on Saturday to revive their hopes of qualification to the World Cup knock-out stage. Asamoah Gyan put Ghana ahead as early as the second minute and Sulley Ali Muntari killed the game off eight minutes from time. The African debutants now have three points, level with Czech and Italy, who play the USA later on Saturday. Gyan opened the score early for Ghana in the what people dubbed “the most exciting match of the first round” after firing the ball from the edge of the Czech area into the far angle in the second minute. Ghana had the chance to set a new winning record throughout the match if it wasn't for the excelled Czech goalkeeper, Petr Cech who made a host of miraculous saves. The Ghanaians were awarded a spot-kick in the second-half after Tomas Ujfalusi was sent off for bringing down Matthew Amoah in the box. Gyan, who will miss Ghana's last group game against USA after being handed a yellow card for shooting the spot-kick without the referee's permission, squandered the shot and fired the ball against the post. Man of the match Michael Essien and Steven Appiah struggled for the rest of the second-half to fend off retaliation attempts by Czech's strikers Pavel Nedved and Tomas Rosicky. Muntari went on to secure Ghana's victory in the 82nd minute after firing a throbbing ball from 12 yards to go straight into the Czech net.
