Gamara entre dans l'histoire

La Fédération internationale de Football (FIFA) a annoncé que le but du capitaine du Paraguay Carlos Gamara marqué dans ses propres filets est le plus rapide dans l'histoire de la Coupe du Monde des buts marqués dans les propres buts.
Par sa tête à la troisième minute, Gamara a brisé l'ancien record détenu par le yougoslave Ivan Horvat qui avait marqué dans ses propres filets après 9 minutes seulement dans les quarts de finales de la Coupe du Monde 1954 qui avait opposé son pays à l'Allemagne.
Gamara avait dévié le coup franc du capitaine anglais David Beckham dans ses propres filets pour ainsi attribuer une victoire de 1-0 à l'Angleterre dans le match d'ouverture du groupe B.
