Chelsea have signed Ivorian striker Salomon Kalou on a three-year deal from Feyenoord for an undisclosed fee, the Premiership champions said on Tuesday. "Salomon Kalou has joined Chelsea Football Club following a successful medical and an agreement on personal terms," read a statement on Chelsea's official website. The 20-year-old forward is Chelsea's second signing following the capture of Germany playmaker Michael Ballack on a free transfer. Kalou, the younger brother of Paris Saint Germain striker Bonaventure, attracted interest from Chelsea after netting 42 goals in 83 games for Feyenoord since joining the Dutch club in 2003. Kalou voiced his happiness for joining the London side and said he is aware of the fierce competition he will face at Stamford Bridge. "I didn't dream of joining such a big club as early as this," a delighted Kalou told Feyenoord's website. "I am happy and proud that I'll be able to tell my children and my grandchildren that I played for a club like Chelsea. "I'm not afraid of the competition at Chelsea, I'll give my all in London to be successful, I believe in my ability and will become a better player at the new club." The Ivory Coast born striker hoped of playing with Holland in the World Cup but his request for a Dutch passport was turned down three times.
