Bordeaux midfielder Vladimir Smicer has been ruled out of action for up to five weeks after sustaining knee injury, Sky Sports reported on Monday. The former Liverpool player suffered a strained muscle in the back of his right knee during Bordeaux's Ligue 1 clash with Toulouse on Friday. The injury is a major concern for Smicer as it cast doubts over his participation in the World Cup finals with Czech Republic. "I will need between four and five weeks. I don't want to take any risk," the 33-year-old said. Smicer joined Bordeaux from Liverpool in the summer of 2005 after he won the UEFA Champions League with the English giants.
