Egypt extended the contract of national team manager Hassan Shehata till 2008, the FA President Samir Zaher said. Shehata, with all of his assistants, will assume the job till the end of the next African Cup of Nations in Ghana where Egypt will seek to defend their title, Zaher told FilGoal.com on Sunday. The Egyptian FA also appointed Zaher as national team supervisor and demanded Shehata to file a monthly report over the team's progress. The former youth team coach guided Egypt to their fifth African title ever in February after winning the prestigious trophy on home soil. Speculation has been rife that Shehata won't stay in his post following a bust-up with some FA officials. Shehata has discussed with the FA board of directors his work plan for the next few months before the African Cup qualifiers kick-off in September.
