Juventus striker David Trezeguet expressed his delight after scoring a hat-trick against Ascoli in the Italian Serie A on Sunday, Football Italia magazine reported on Monday. The French international said he is relieved after finally ending his goal drought at the expense of Ascoli. "I was very calm about the situation but scoring goals has always been important for me. I was training well and was feeling good, but the goal just wouldn't come. It changed at Ascoli and I'm thrilled," Trezeguet said. "I'm very happy to have re-found the net. I wasn't getting agitated and I just got on with what the Coach asked of me. However, I have to say that scoring is good for my morale," he added. Trezeguet paid tribute to his teammates for supporting him until he re-established his goal scoring form. "I have to thank my teammates and my boss, though, as they stayed very close to me over the last few weeks," he said. Trezeguet took his tally this season to 18 goals in the Serie A, three behind Fiorentina striker Luca Toni. The 28-year-old said the win over Ascoli was important after a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Roma in the Italian Cup as well as the bad performance against Empoli in Serie A. "We needed to put in a performance like we did after those tough matches against Empoli and Roma. "We suffered in the first of those games and lost the second, but we were back to our best and we demonstrated that we deserve our points total in the League," he added.
