Cairo Stadium-Ahmad Saied: Shawki Gharib said that Egypt's chances in the African Cup of Nations would not have been different if they had to face Angola instead of DR Congo in the quarterfinals. Gharib told reporters that Egypt had no preference in who to face in the second round as long as it was not Cameroon. The Egypt assistant coach watched Angola's match against Togo in the final round of Group A on Sunday from the stands. Angola missed out on qualifying to the quarter-finals despite beating Togo 3-2 to hand Congo, who lost to Cameroon 2-0, their second round ticket. Egypt will face Congo at the Cairo Stadium on Friday. “We know we'll have to face much stronger sides if we overcome Congo in the quarter-finals and we're ready for that,” said Gharib. When asked about the injury that Ahmed Hossam “Mido” sustained in Egypt's 3-1 win over Ivory Coast Gharib said the player will undergo further scans on Monday. However, the Egypt coach noted that Mido may miss Friday's encounter.
