The 23-year old picked up the ankle injury after going into a tough tackle with West Ham's Nigel Reo-Coker in the league round-21 game, BBC Sport reported. The injury could see Essien sidelined during Ghana's run for the Nations Cup that kicks-off on January 20th given that it could take him up to eight weeks in recuperation time, BBC added.
