Algeria became the first African nation to score four goals in a World Cup match by thumping South Korea 4-2. Les Fennecs, one of five African sides in Brazil, scored three first-half goals through Islam Slimani, Rafik Halliche and Abdelmoumene Djabou. Heung-Min Son pulled one back for Korea but Algeria hit the four after a superb team goal by finished by Yacine Brahimi and assisted by Soufiane Feghouli. Ja-Cheol Koo scored a second for Korea but it was not enough for the Asians. Algeria broke their own record of three goals in a game, when they beat Chile 3-2 in Spain 1982.
