Mohamed Salah scored a stunning late winner to give Basel a priceless 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Champions League. Salah, who scored twice in his last two games against Chelsea, hit an 87th minute winner to steer Basel to another victory over the Blues following the opening 2-1 group-stage win back in August. The vital goal helped Basel climb to second spot in Group E on eight points, just one adrift of leaders Chelsea who already guaranteed qualification. The Swiss champs were also fortunate to see rivals Schalke and Steaua Bucharest play out a goalless draw in the other group game. Basel are now one point ahead of Schalke before both sides clash in the decisive final group game in two weeks. Salah on fire On-fire Egypt star Salah kept the Londoners' backline on their toes from the outset and could have opened the scoring after just 16 minutes if it wasn't for the vigilant keeper Peter Cech who tipped over his strike. Salah then continued wreaking havoc down the right flank and a neat one-two saw him miss another close chance eight minutes later after breaking inside. But the moment of the night came three minutes from the end when Salah caught the Chelsea defense napping by rushing onto a long ball from Fabian Schar to slot past the hapless Cech and seal the precious three points. Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny also played the full match as he produced a fine display in midfield.
