Zamalek continued their impressive start to the Egyptian Premier League season with an easy 3-0 victory over Petrojet following a controversial delay to kickoff. The match was delayed for nearly 40 minutes after security forces arrived late at the Air Defense Stadium, in what was described by Zamalek boss Jorvan Vieira as a ‘fiasco'. Burkina Faso international Abdoulaye Cisse opened the scoring on the stroke of half time, with the league's top scorer Ahmed Gaafar and winter signing Ahmed Eid adding a couple more after the break. It is Zamalek's fourth win out of four, which keeps the Whites on top of Group B on 12 points. One-way traffic Zamalek were gradually heading to an easy win as Nour Al-Sayed was the first to threaten Mahdi Soliman's goal, but the Petrojet keeper palmed away the midfielder's effort after some quality football by the hosts. Minutes later, Soliman rushed out to clear a long ball, only to lay it off for Eid, whose attempted shot from distance missed the empty target. Petrojet's hopes of going into the dressing rooms unscathed were shattered when Cisse volleyed home a loose ball from close range just before half time. After the break it was even easier for Vieira's team, with Petrojet keeper Soliman making two good saves in quick succession before being beaten by a third from Gaafar on the rebound. Zamalek keeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed – strongly tipped for an Egypt call-up – made a sensational double save to dent Petrojet's hopes of a comeback. The rout was complete when substitute Hazem Emam burst through the Petrojet defense with a superb solo run before the ball went to Gaafar, who set up Eid with his first goal for Zamalek and arguably the easiest he would ever score.
