President Hosni Mubarak Sunday hailed the deep, strategic ties between Egypt and China and highlighted the importance of co-operation with China in all sectors in his talks with Wang Qiang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said Safwat el-Sherif, the chairman of the Shura Council (the Upper House of Egypt's Parliament). El-Sherif, who attended the meeting Sunday, added that the talks between Mubarak and Qiang focused on Afro-Chinese co-operation as well as the exchange of experiences between the Chinese party and the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) in Egypt. "The Chinese official also lauded Mubarak's decision to open the Rafah border crossing," said el-Sherif, the Secretary General of the NDP.
