The Egyptian state's main wheat buying agency said late Thursday that it wanted to buy cargoes of up to 60,000 tonnes of optional-origin wheat for shipment June 20-30. Offers should reach Egypt's General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) by noon local time (1000 GMT) on Friday and the results should come out around 4:30 p.m. (1430 GMT) on the same day. Wheat bids should be free-on-board, with a separate freight offer. Egypt is the world's largest wheat importer. Since the start of the current financial year in July 2009, GASC has purchased more than 4.9 million tonnes of US, French, Russian, German, Kazakh and Canadian wheat at international tenders. In the previous fiscal year, GASC bought at least 5.07 million tonnes of imported wheat.
