A charity marathon, organised by The Egyptian Gazette, the Middle East's oldest English daily newspaper, on Saturday brought together hundreds of competitors from different ages led by Ambassador of Turkey in Cairo, Hèseyin Avni Botsali. Together with Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, the Turkish diplomat gave the go-ahead to the marathon. The three-race event was launched in the splendour of the world-renowned Giza Pyramids. The winners were awarded commemmorative medals and certificates of merit. The marathon was part of a series of celebrations planned by The Gazette to ceklebrate its 130th birthday.
