CAIRO – About 1,325 people have applied for Egypt's parliamentary elections on Wednesday, the head of the Supreme Elections Committee said on Thursday, adding that no candidates for the slate system applied for registration on the first day, the official Middle East News Agency reports. Abdel-Moez Ibrahim stressed that the registration process is going smoothly and all the necessary facilities are being offered to candidates. The electoral committees nationwide started receiving on Wednesday application forms from candidates seeking to contest parliamentary seats in Egypt. The registration process will run until October 18. The SEC said candidates can file the request by themselves or through a proxy.
