CAIRO – Cairo Criminal Court on Monday said that it will declare its verdict in the case of ex-information minister Anas el-Fiqqi on September 28, the official Middle East News Agency reports. El-Fiqqi is charged with squandering almost $1.9 million in public funds, when he permitted a number of private TV channels to broadcast Egyptian Premier League matches for free. The prosecution has called on the court to punish el-Fiqqi severely for wasting public money while in office.
