CAIRO – A reliable source at Egypt's Ministry of Health on Tuesday emphasised that all ministry hospitals are working in full capacity, the official Middle East News Agency reported. The source added that there would be an alternative plan to secure normal level of performance in case of any staff shortage caused by a partial strike staged by doctors last Saturday. The source added that participants in strike don't exceed 5 per cent of the medical staff at all hospitals nationwide. Doctors and medical teams in administrative posts were ordered to support doctors on duty to secure maintained services especially in emergency departments and outpatient clinics. The source said that the ministry has responded to most of doctors' demands whereas the rest which include higher pay and cleansing the ministry of corrupt elements are being considered. "The ministry has dealt with the strike peacefully, considering that striking is an integral right provided that the offered medical services are not adversely affected," added the source.
