CAIRO - Tens of Egyptians holding a protest outside the Spanish Embassy in Cairo Friday demanding the Madrid government extradite Hussein Salem, a prominent Egyptian businessman, who is wanted on suspicion of squandering public funds by selling gas to Israel below market prices. Salem, one of ousted president Hosni Mubarak's closest aides and a major shareholder in East Mediterranean Gas (EMG), was captured in Spain last week. The protesters wanted his file be transferred to Spanish authorities to prepare for his extradition to Cairo to stand before the Egyptian judiciary.
