CAIRO - In celebrating the 55th anniversary of establishing bilateral diplomatic relations, Egypt and China didn't only recall their long history of co-operation, but also stressed that these relations will grow even stronger in the future. During a ceremony held this week, Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Song Aiguo recalled the history of Chinese-Egyptian relations, which he said had always been strong. He added that these relations were based on mutual respect, benefit and political support. Both sides should exert greater efforts in the coming days to make these ties even stronger in every field. “ Song said that, in spite of all the changes in the region, China's policy towards Egypt as a strategic partner would not change. Egypt was the first Arab country to recognise New China and establish strategic co-operation. Their substantial bilateral ties are a good example of south-south co-operation. Since the establishment of the full diplomatic relations in 1956, China has supported Egypt on many occasions, while Egypt has done the same for China.
