BEIJING – The January 25 revolution can open new horizons to boost historic Egyptian-Chinese ties, an Egyptian diplomat to China told the official Middle East News Agency on Tuesday. Ambassador Ahmed Rezq added that the revolution is entitled to enhance cooperation between the two countries as Egypt was the first African and Arab country that recognised the Popular Republic of China and established diplomatic relations with it back in l956. Rezq pointed out that the two countries are bound by a strategic cooperation agreement signed in 1999. "Hope for a new Egypt based on democracy and transparency are apt to lure foreign investments including Chinese capital", Rezq said in an interview with MENA marking the 55th anniversary of Egyptian-Chinese relations.
