Cairo- An Egyptian court Thursday handed down five years to former minister of housing Ahmed el-Maghrabi on corruption charges. The Criminal Court sentenced businessman Muneer Ghabour to suspended one year in the same case. The same court ordered both convicts of repaying LE72.2 million to the public treasury for illegally seizing 18 feddans (acres) owned by the state. Egypt has been cracking down on corruption by former officials since president Hosni Mubarak was ousted last February..
