CAIRO - There is an urgent need to restore order and discipline to the capital's chaotic Attaba Square, which has been occupied by street hawkers who made use of the absence of police after the January 25 revolution. The famous square is full of unlicensed vendors, who have taken its sidewalks and thus forcing the pedestrians to walk across the streets exposing themselves to danger. Because of these hawkers, the square, which once boasted the old Opera House and Azbakiya Public Garden and the Royal Fencing club, is now at its lowest ebb because the law is not enforced. As a result, the Attaba Square has become beset with chaos thanks to these hawkers, who are irritating, rude and threaten public safety.
