CAIRO - An Egyptian detainee held by Syrian authorities a week ago was released at the intervention of Egypt's Foreign Ministry, an Egyptian diplomat said. "Khaled el-Ghayesh, an Egyptian computer programmer, arrested in Syria was released and he travelled to Lebanon. His release is the fruit of Egyptian contacts with Syrian authorities," Mohamed Abdel Hakam, an assistant foreign minister said. He added that el-Ghayesh, who worked in Lebanon, had been detained during a protest in the Syrian city of Hims.
