TRIPOLI - The Egyptian embassy in Tripoli is operating normally and freely, just like other Arab and foreign ones in the Libyan capital, an embassy diplomat said Wednesday. The statement made to the Egypt's official News Agency (MENA) denied reports that they were under house arrest inside the embassy. The diplomat said that they were operating normally transporting Egyptian expatriates home through Tunisia's Ras Jedir crossing with Libya. He explained that the distance between Tripoli and Egypt's Salloum border crossing was about 1,600km, and they could go through the areas of military operations in the restive country, while the road from the capital to Ras Jedir is only 170km. Members of the diplomatic mission in Tripoli is neither under a travel ban.
