Egypt emergency law will be lifted

CAIRO - Egypt will lift emergency laws before parliamentary elections in September, the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces said on Monday.
"We have said before that parliamentary or presidential polls will not be held while emergency law is still in force," Mamdouh Shaheen, a member of the military council, said in a news conference.
Egypt's emergency laws have been in place since 1981.
