CAIRO (Update 2) - A criminal court on the outskirts of Cairo Saturday postponed the trial of Habib el-Adly, Egypt's former Interior Minister. El-Adly, who served as the Interior Minister for almost 14 years starting from 1997, faces charges of graft and money laundering. The brief hearing session Saturday started amid tight security measures as el-Adly appeared in the dock with around 20 guards stationed outside the dock to protect him from potential attacks. Standing in the dock and dressed in white prison clothes, el- Adli denied accusations of money laundering and unlawful acquisition of public money. "It didn't happen," he said twice, in a calm tone. He had been taken to the court building inside an armoured vehicle. Many Egyptians blame el-Adly for ordering police to fire at protesters against former President Hosni Mubarak in late January.
