KAFR EL-SHEIKH - More than angry 3,000 fishermen protested outside the headquarters of the coastguard Police in the downstream governorate of Kafr el-Sheikh calling for encroachments on el-Borollous Lake to be removed and demanding licences for more fish farms. The fishermen asked the police chief in the governorate to resolve the board of the Fishing Association and re-elect a new one, to promote their welfare. "We ask for our rights denied for long years,” said one of the fishermen, who added that he had become jobless because large swathes of the lake were allocated for tycoons. Some other fishermen said they would not leave until encroachments on Lake Borollous were removed, while others protested outside the Governorate's offices.
