CAIRO - A 13-year-old maid was arrested in Cairo yesterday on attempted murder charges to escape bad treatment by her employers, police said on Sunday. The girl, identified only as M.a A, confessed to tossing arsine into her employers' tea for refusing to allow her to take a week off to visit with her parents in the Delta Governorate of Kafr el-Sheikh, the police said. The girl linked her plan to the isolation and the difficult working conditions she has been facing in he employers' house for three years, they added. She complained of forced confinement, excessive work demands, and abuse by her employers, two retired workers in their late 60s, the police said.
