Updated techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive system, breast and lung cancer will be tackled at the ninth annual conference organised by Qasr Al-Aini Centre for Tumour Treatment and Nuclear Medicine in Cairo. The conference will be held on September 29 -October 1, entitled 'Treatment according to Patients' Needs', according to organisers It will also deal with the therapy for cancer of the genitals and urinary system, as well as leukaemia, says Dr Salah el-messidi, professor of tumour Treatment and Nuclear Medicine, Cairo University. “Professors, who are specialists in treating tumours of the bladder, lungs and digestive system from universities in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Syria and Egypt, will be attending the event,” adds Dr el-Messidi, the head of the conference. A seminar on tumours of the lymphatic glands will be held on the sidelines of the same conference, says Dr Emad Hamada, secretary of the conference, adding that there will also be lectures on state-of-the-art devices for diagnosing and treating lymphatic glands and lung, breast and prostate tumours. “About 25,000 cancer cases are treated annually at the Qasr Al-Aini Centre, using modern 3D radiotherapy techniques. The Centre also has a unit to treat children's tumours, in most cases free of charge,” according to Dr el Messidi
