CAIRO - Many people are accustomed to increasing their spending on recreation during the holy fasting month of Ramadan, which means profits for some businesses, especially the Ramadan tents. The business of Ramadan tents has seen fierce competition this year to attract more Egyptians and also Arab tourists who spend the month of Ramadan in Egypt to experience the special aspects of this month here. One updated feature at these tents is a children's corner for children up to 12 years old, according to Dalia Zein Eddin, the public relations manager. She added that this corner has baby sitters to care for children, to encourage families to enjoy the Ramadan evenings, while their children are in a safe place. The tents also include different kinds of games such as electric cars and magic performances, and iftar and sohour boxes will be available to children at a price of LE30 (around $5). The Ramadan tents can accommodate up to 2000 people, with corners for VIP persons that are designed in Bedouin and Moroccan styles, at which famous singers will appear. Tickets go up to LE150 per person. In the Tagammo suburb on the outskirts of Cairo, there is a sports club that has set up a tent designed in the oriental style, according to marketing manager Mohamed Gad. The tent includes a replica of Cairo's Al-Futuh gate and Moez Lidin Allah Street including traditional Ramadan lanterns and both traditional and modern seating areas. The programme includes performances by musical bands and DJs and Egyptian dishes are being served. Total costs range from LE 120-120 per person. "I think this price is suitable, compared to the prices of five star hotels this year," Gad added. The most famous tent is that of Abu Ouf at al-Salam Concord Hotel, which is holding a concert every Thursday. The cost of tickets is between LE100 to LE400 per person.
