CAIRO - The Egyptian national carrier EgyptAir, a member of the global Star Alliance, will commence flights between Cairo and Juba via Khartoum in early August. It will operate two flights a week, on Wednesday and Friday on board of a Boeing 737/800. Alaa Ashour, the Chairman of EgyptAir Airlines, said that the company has ambitious plans to expand its network by offering other new destination in the African continent, and by increasing the number of flights after the start of operations at Terminal 3. He added with the addition of the new flight to Juba, the company will operate a total of 26 flights to Sudan. EgyptAir currently has 3 to 4 daily flights to Khartoum. “Expanding our network in Africa is among our strategies to increase our investment and offer our services in the fields of training, maintenance, in-flight services and ground services all over the continent," says Hussein Massoud, the Chairman of EgyptAir Holding company. The operating of the new flights is part of the framework of a development strategy adopted by the Minister of Civil Aviation Ahmed Shafiq, which plans to connect Africa with the whole world through the Cairo International Airport.
