BENI SUEIF - Police continued Saturday to search for suspects in the investigations pertaining to the bloody clashes in Afweah, a small village in the Upper Egyptian Governorate of Beni Sueif, which erupted on Friday night and left more than 25 policemen injured, two of whom are officers, as well as eight destroyed houses. An uneasy calm has returned to the violence-hit Afweah village, but a heavy police presence and a deep rift between the Dekkoun and Khattabiya families remained. The dispute, which erupted between members of the two families over children's play, turned into a large scale mass fight on Friday night as they used fire arms against each other, torched cars and homes, police said. The police said they were still searching for men thought to be behind the shooting of 25 policemen, the burning of eight houses and an unspecified number of private cars. They said that gunmen were still on the loose after the clashes, during which the two families used firearms against each other. The gunmen had gone into hiding, the police said.
