Mido's Ajax move may collapse
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 29 - 07 - 2010

CAIRO -Mido's move to Ajax Amsterdam could collapse after the Dutch giants failed to reach an agreement with Middlesbrough over his transfer, the Egyptian striker said on Thursday.
"There has been no financial agreement between both clubs until now," Mido told FilGoal.com.
"The deal could fall through. I'm staying at Middlesbrough until further notice."
Mido, who is surplus to requirements at English second-division side Middlesbrough, looked set for a reunion with Ajax, the club he made his name with in the early 2000s.
Ajax's Dutch coach Martin Jol, who managed Mido at Tottenham Hotspur from 2005 to 2007, made no secret of his desire to sign the towering frontman in the summer transfer window.
But it now seems the 27-year-old could be forced to settle for the unfavorable option of remaining a Boro player this season.
"I fully respect Ajax and its fans, I will never forget the two seasons I spent there," Mido, who won with the club the domestic double in 2002, added.
"I wish to play for Ajax next season but the current circumstances might not allow me to do so.
"I will remain with Middlesbrough and try to help them gain promotion to the Premier League if I do not find a suitable offer elsewhere."
