NETHERLAND- The Egyptian attacker appears to be on his way back to Ajax According to a report in De Telegraaf, Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax are on the verge of signing Egyptian attacker Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam from Championship outfit Middlesbrough on a free transfer. The Amsterdam outfit are determined to add some more depth to their squad ahead of the 2010-11 campaign, and head coach Martin Jol apparently sees the club's former striker Mido as a useful addition to his front line. The 27-year-old Mido joined his current club from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2007, but he has failed to live up to expectations ever since. The forward was farmed out on loan to Wigan Athletic, Zamalek and West Ham United over the past couple of years. The report claims Middlesbrough are set to release Mido and that the former Olympique Marseille star will join Ajax on a free. The Egypt international previously enjoyed a successful spell with the Godenzonen from 2001 to 2003. Both clubs have yet to confirm the transfer, but it is claimed that Ajax could release an official statement later today.
