CAIRO, Sept 10, 2018 (MENA) - The inflation rate stood at 294.9 points in August - a 1.7-percent rise from July - according to a statement by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS). The annual inflation rate stood at 13.6 percent in August against 33.2 percent in the same month in 2017, the statement read Monday. CAPMAS attributed the rise in inflation to an increase in the prices of foodstuffs by 2.8 percent, and beverages and tobacco by 0.5 percent. Also, the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel registered an increase by 0.9 percent.
