CAIRO, August 9, 2018 - Health Minister Dr Hala Zayed met on Thursday her Libyan counterpart Haitham Eissa to discuss co-operation in the medical sector. They discussed treating Libyan citizens staying in Egypt in both the state-run and private hospitals as well as training Libyan doctors in Egyptian hospitals. The Libyan minister referred to the possibility of training first-aid Libyan workers on updated emergency methods in the event of a crisis. Eissa also asked for providing Libyans in Egypt with hepatitis C treatment. The Egyptian side immediately responded to the requirements of the Libyan side, agreeing to provide them with all the medical assistance they required. In another development, Dr Zayed held a meeting on Thursday with members of the team supervising the implementation of the new health insurance system in Port Said Governorate. She was monitoring construction work on health units and hospitals in Port Said to be ready for the first stage of the new system. The meeting aims at following up the health services package supported by the presidency, on top of which are the national programme for eliminating waiting lists for critical surgeries, the health insurance system and the HCV survey and treatment project. Minister Zayed said that there would also be much focus on the training of nurses to be able to provide the best medical care services for patients.
