Staff report: CAIRO, July 16, 2018 - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Monday met the Sultan of the Dawoodi Bohra sect, Dr Mufaddal Saifuddin, and thanked him for the efforts he is making, in continuation of the legacy of his father, the late Sultan Mohammed Burhanuddin, for the restoration of historical mosques and the mausoleums of Prophet Muhammad's descendants in Egypt, the Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Bassam Radi, said in a statement. At the start of the meeting, President Sisi welcomes the Sultan of Bohras and noted the firm and long relations between Egypt and the Dawoodi Bohras. In this context, President Sisi made special emphasis on Egypt's openness to all religions and sects and its deeply-rooted faith in the importance of dialogue between peoples of the world with all their denominations and ethnicities. Such openness and faith, the president noted, are based upon the Egyptian people's long history, civilisation and moderate understanding of religion, Spokesman Radi said. For his part, Dr Saifuddin, the 53rd Sultan of the Dawoodi Bohra sect, paid tribute to the success that Egypt has achieved with regard to the realisation of security and stability under the leadership of President Sisi. Sultan Saifuddin also praised the freedom that Egypt enjoys, adding that this freedom allows the practice of religious rituals and guarantees an atmosphere of stability for all people. Sultan Saifuddin outlined to President Sisi the efforts of the Bohras for the restoration of historical mosque architectures and the attention the Bohras are paying to the maintenance of mosques of Prophet Muhammad's descendants in Egypt, especially including the mausoleum of Sayeda Nafisah, daughter of Prophet Muhammad's grandson al-Hassan.
