CAIRO, July 9, 2018 (MENA) - Chief Technical Advisor at World Bank Loic Chiquier praised the successful Egyptian experience in the field of social housing, stressing the need to continue working to enhance cooperation between the bank and Cairo in various sectors, as well as providing all the expertise and potentials to achieve the development goals in Egypt. This came during a meeting between Prime Minister and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development Mostafa Madbouli and Chiquier, in the presence of Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr and Head of the Mortgage Finance Fund (MFF) Mai Abdel Hamid. At the beginning of the meeting, Madbouli welcomed Chiquier to Egypt, pointing out the government's keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination with the bank in various sectors, especially the housing sector, as it is considered to be a great priority within the government's plan of action. The prime minister underlined the role of the construction sector and its contribution to the achievement of sustainable development, adding that the sector creates job opportunities for young people. The meeting reviewed aspects of cooperation between Cairo and the bank in the housing sector, as well as the funds the state received from the bank, which amounted to $500 million. Madbouli expressed hope to boost cooperation with the bank in the housing sector in the coming period, in addition to receiving an additional $500 million from the bank to expand the base of beneficiaries from housing projects.
