CAIRO, July 8, 2018 (MENA) - Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb met on Sunday with George Leonard Carey, the former archbishop of Canterbury. The dialogue between cultures and religions should move from the phase of theory into application through involving youth and making use of their capabilities to promote the values of peace and coexistence in societies, Tayyeb said. Religious scholars should also play a role in finding solutions for crises currently hitting this war-torn world, he noted. Carey, meanwhile, said strong ties between Al Azhar and the Canterbury Cathedral contributed to easing communications between religious institutions in the East and West. The participation of Tayyeb in the young peacemakers forum, which will be held in London this month, will help raise awareness among the young people on the importance of making peace in the world, Carey added.
