Bibliotheca Alexandrina launches website for learning hieroglyphs

CAIRO, JULY 5, 2018 - The Writing and Scripts Centre at Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) launched the "Hieroglyphs Step by Step" website (http://bit.ly/2KNayyG) in co-operation with the BA Information Technology Department.
The website is the first electronic platform for learning hieroglyphics as it targets teaching the old Egyptian language to students of the Egyptian universities and those who are interested in hieroglyphics.
In statements Thursday, Head of Bibliotheca Alexandrina Dr Moustafa el-Fiki said that the website includes an online dictionary in both Arabic and English, adding that the first phase of the venture was launched in 2015.
The project is a long-term one which is enriched with scientific content continuously, he asserted, noting that the dictionary of the website includes 6,300 words in hieroglyphs and their synonyms.
