CAIRO, July 3, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's House of Representatives on Tuesday approved a bill presented by the government regarding treatment of some senior Armed Forces commanders. Senior commanders of the Armed Forces whose names are stated in a republican decree will be summoned to serve the Armed Forces during their lifetime. The summoning is to be for those who are holding a civilian post after they complete their term. Those summoned commanders are to be treated as ministers in terms of benefits and rights. Under the approved bill they cannot be interrogated before any judicial authority during their term in office except upon a permission from the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. The addressed commanders upon this law will be treated while traveling abroad with full immunity similar to heads and members of diplomatic missions throughout their service and the Foreign Ministry shall make all necessary arrangements in this regard. The law is to be published in the official gazette.
