CAIRO, May 15, 2-18 - The Egyptian Exchange indexes posted gains at the close of yesterday's trading, backed by purchases by Arab and foreign institutions and investment funds. The market capitalisation gained LE2.5 billion to reach LE954.2 billion amid transactions that hit LE1.67 billion. The EGX 30 benchmark index went up by 0.1 per cent to close at 16,985.78 points. The smaller and mid-cap index EGX 70 inched up by 0.19 per cent to close at 849.60 points. The broader index EGX 100 index rose by 0.14 per cent to stand at 2,189.36 points. Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Tuesday that the banks will be open to clients from 9.30am till 1.30pm during the holy month of Ramadan . Working hours for employees will start from 9.00am until 2.30pm, the CBE said in a statement.
