CAIRO, April 16, 2018 - Egypt's Finance Minister Amr el-Garhi is to take part in the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) due to be held in Washington on April 17-22, the Finance Ministry said in a statement on Monday. El- Garhi and his delegation are scheduled to meet the IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, and the IMF Board Member Hazem el-Beblawi. The minister is also expected to take part in a round table discussion with the President of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim, the Japanese Finance Minister, Taro Aso, and the Head of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Tedros Ghebreyesus, with the aim of identifying ways of supporting anti-poverty programmes and improving medical care. El-Garhi is to chair the round table discussion on Egyptian expertise in applying financial transparency. Economic intellectuals, officials and civil society representatives are to attend the discussion. Minister el-Garhi is also to hold a series of meetings with his counterparts in South Sudan and South Africa. The Egyptian delegation is due to take part in multiple discussions with international banks and investors to shed light on Egypt's economic reform programme, which has helped improve Egypt's performance according to the reports issued by these entities.
