CAIRO, April 1, 2018 - AS Coptic Orthodox churches in all Egypt and abroad celebrated Palm Sunday yesterday, the Pope of the Alexandria Coptic Orthodox Church and Patriarch of the Saint Mark Holy See led a mass marking the occasion at the North Coast's Virgin Mary Church. The Papal convoy drove into the Virgin Mary Church to the traditional tunes and hymns of Palm Sunday as citizens and clergymen lined up holding branches of palm trees, palm leaves and roses to welcome the Pope, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported. Palm Sunday is the Christian feast that Eastern churches mark on April 1 every year to commemorate Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem as so mentioned in the four canonical Gospels. Also yesterday, President Abdel-Fattah El Sisi delegated two Presidency officials to convey his greetings to the Armenian Catholic and Armenian Orthodox churches and attend their ceremonies on the occasion of Easter Sunday.
