CAIRO, March 18, 2018 - Egypt and the United Nations signed on Sunday a US$1.2 billion strategic agreement to boost economic development, social solidarity, women empowerment, and the sustainable management for natural resources. The Minister of Investment and International Co-operation and the UNDP Resident Representative, Richard Dictus, have signed the agreement. The agreement is aimed to support the Egyptian government to achieve its developmental plan, which focuses on creating job opportunities, achieving sustainable development by offering more opportunities to women and youths and encouraging entrepreneurs and SMEs. On his part, Mr Dictus said during the signing ceremony that it is a new chapter of the UN role in Egypt, expressing his willingness to implement the agreement successfully.
