Boosting religious ties with Portugal

LISBON, March 15, 2018 - Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on Thursday received the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr Ahmed el-Tayeb, who started a visit to Portugal to attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Islamic Society there.
Dr el-Tayeb also visited the Portuguese parliament where he was received by its speaker and a galaxy of members of parliament.
During his meeting with the speaker of the Portugues parliament, Dr el-Tayeb praised the co-existance and the acceptance of the Other principle adopted by Portugal.
The Grand Sheikh affirmed that more dialogue and communication should be encouraged to lead a better future for the good of the peoples of the world.
