CAIRO, March 15 (MENA) - Vice Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) Yehia Abul Fotouh said on Thursday that the bank sold 9,000 Aman certificates for irregular and seasonal workers, with a total revenue of 16 million pounds so far. In statements to MENA, Abul Fotouh expected more certificates to be sold in the coming days given the increased awareness about the certificate. The certificate comes as part of efforts aimed at providing insurance coverage and monthly pensions for casual and temporary workers and farmers, Abul Fotouh noted. The certificate can be purchased without any fees or opening of an account. Ranging between 500 and 2,500 pounds, the new certificate will have a 16-percent interest rate.
