CAIRO, March 12, 2018 - Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri on Monday conveyed a written message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to South Sudanese President Salva Kiir, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said. The foreign minister conveyed to the South Sudanese president the greetings and appreciation of President Sisi for his efforts to realize stability and development in South Sudan. He also highlighted to President Kiir the keenness of President Sisi on supporting the brothers in South Sudan in all fields, spokesman Abu Zeid said. Foreign Minister Shoukri also asserted Egypt's support for the efforts of the South Sudanese brothers to achieve peace and stability in the country through the initiative to establish a steering committee for the reconstitution of national dialogue. He outlined a number of projects that Egypt is looking forward to carry out in South Sudan in the coming period, including the setting-up of fish farms, the opening of an Egyptian cultural centre in Juba, the arrangement of training courses in the fields of security, education, health, irrigation and diplomacy in addition to the digging of water wells. Minister Shoukri also announced an increase in the number of dialysis units in the Juba Teaching Hospital from two to eight. Egypt, he added, will also dispatch a medical team to Juba to operate a dialysis centre for two months as of next month. The team's tasks also include training a South Sudanese medical crew on operating the center. For his part, President Kiir voiced his country's full appreciation for efforts made by Egypt to support the South Sudanese people and the stability of their country. Shoukri arrived in Juba earlier in the day yesterday and held meetings with South Sudanese Minister of Defence Kuol Manyang Juuk, South Sudanese Cabinet Affairs Minister Martin Elia Lomoro and leading officials of the South Sudanese Steering Committee for the Reconstitution of National Dialogue.
