CAIR, March 11, 2018 - Sixteen takfiris, including four extremely dangerous elements, were eliminated and three others were arrested as Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018 continued its task of uprooting terrorism and consolidating stability and development, the Armed Forces said yesterday. Nine terrorist hideouts, a water tank and three booby trapped four-wheel-drive vehicles were destroyed by the Air Force, the Armed Forces said yesterday in its 15th communique since the operation started on February 9. The Air Force action also targeted and destroyed a number of tunnels and an underground arms warehouse, where 34 missiles, 4 RPGs and large quantities of explosive materials were found, the Armed Forces said in Communique 15 which rounded up the results of Operation Sinai 2018 in four days ending yesterday. A lab for manufacturing explosives was destroyed in the raids in Sheikh Zuweid and a total of 6 cars and 32 motorbikes without metal plates were seized and destroyed during the same period, the Armed Forces said. The security forces also demolished six bango and cannabis farms and seized more than 4680 kilogrammes of narcotic substances readied for distribution. Navy action during the same period resulted in seizing a merchant vessel with 3.5 tonnes of weed hidden in the hull. Action to seize the vessel while in the waiting area near the port of Alexandria in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior's apparatuses concerned, the Armed Forces said. A non-commissioned officer and a conscript were martyred and 4 soldiers were injured in the course of Operation Sinai 2018 in the four days ending yesterday, the communiqué said. Border Guards, in cooperation with the Air Force, also discovered and destroyed 5 booby trapped vehicles while attempting to infiltrate into Egyptian territories from the western borders, the Armed Forces said in Communique 15.
